Canvas Boots with Dixie Alexander: May 26 – May 27

May 26 at 10 AM to May 27 at 6 PM: Make your own moose-hide bottom canvas boots under the direction of master skin sewer Dixie Alexander. A Gwich’in Athabascan, Dixie was raised in a traditional Athabascan lifestyle in Fort Yukon where her grandmother Julia Peter mentored her in skin sewing and beading. She used her traditional upbringing, along with her schooling, to develop a professional career in creating beautiful works that are on display all over Alaska as well as the Smithsonian Institution of Natural History in Washington D.C. She was named one of Alaska’s Living Cultural Treasures by the Alaska State Council on the Arts in 2011.

$125 – Baby
$150 – Children
$175 – 6-7 Women
$200 – 8-9 Women/6-7 Men
$225 – 10-11 Women/8-9 Men
$250 – 10-11 Men

This class is limited to the first 15 people to pay class fee.
