May 3, 2019: Flights of Fancy – Recycled Cardboard Sculptures and Mosaics

Join us for our First Friday art exhibition on Friday, May 3rd, 5-8 p.m. at the Morris Thompson Cultural and Visitors Center.

Our featured artist this month is Kassandra Mirosh. Kassandra Mirosh is a long time Alaskan resident. Her art reflects a deep appreciation for the natural beauty of the state. She is inspired not only by landscapes, but also by the amazing adaptations that allow animals and plants to live in harsh environments. Her a allows her to observe nature in a variety of mediums. She creates glass mosaics, drawings, watercolor paintings, acrylic paintings, collage and recycled cardboard sculptures. Currently, Kassandra teaches Art, English, US History and Spanish in Healy, Alaska.

Gwich’in Fiddle Dance – March 13-16, 2019

Join us at the Morris Thompson Center on the evenings of March 13, 14, 15 & 16 for Gwich’in Athabascan Fiddle Dance – a family-friendly dance for all ages. Two step, Double Jig, Duck Dance, Square Dance, Rabbit Dance, Handkerchief Dance & Neets’ee Tlyaa. Doors open at 6:30 pm and we’ll dance till after midnight.  Dance lessons all four nights from 7-8 pm for those unsure of the steps.  Food and refreshments included until they run out. See you soon!

$15 adults/$10 for kids 10 and under
