March is an important time when many Alaska Native organizations gather for annual meetings. On March 18, respected leaders Georgianna Lincoln and Steve Ginnis joined us for the second episode of Denakkanaaga’s new seasonally focused cultural livestream series, moderated by Sharon Hildebrand. This episode is titled “Our People and Land Speak-Traditional Values for Today’s World” and it focuses on how traditional Native values guide contemporary Native organizations. Ms. Lincoln shared her wisdom about caring for our families and our communities and how to balance those priorities with for-profit endeavors. Mr. Ginnis spoke on the need to protect Native languages and lands, core values that can be supported by Native organizations. Both highlighted the importance of respecting and listening to our elders as they seek to help guide our future and values.
