The Morris Thompson Cultural and Visitors Center provides space at a reasonable rate for events that:

  • Serve a community purpose
  • Promote/support cultural understanding
  • Support the partnership and/or the Center’s mission.

Spaces

Features a counter-top with sink, microwave, and a coffeemaker. Accommodates 24 classroom-style, 32 boardroom style, and 40 theater- style. Maximum occupancy 49. Available year-round.

Professional boardroom with windows and private deck overlooking the Chena River. Accommodates 18 at the table and 10 in guest chairs.  Available year-round.

Intimate octagonal hall with a small stage. Features bench seating and display cases of beautiful Athabascan art. Maximum occupancy 20.  Available year-round.

High ceiling, expansive windows, and natural finishes provide impressive space for a memorable event. Podium, microphone/sound-system, tables and chairs available by request. Maximum occupancy 200.  Available after 5:00 pm from mid-September through mid-May. 

100-seat theater suitable for presentations, speakers, panel discussions, and film screenings. Features Alaska Native banners, a high definition projector and screen, and wireless microphones. After 5:00 pm from mid-September through mid-May and by special approval.

Reservations

To make a reservation, read and complete the Online Rental Request Form. Once an event is approved, MTCVC requires a refundable $200 deposit to reserve it.

Catering

You may serve refreshments in all meeting areas except the theater. For public events, you must hire a licensed caterer. Restrictions apply when serving alcoholic beverages. 

Prohibited Uses

The following uses are not allowed: activity that advances a religious doctrine; public activity directed toward the success or failure of a political party, candidate, or partisan political group, including events advocating a specific ideology, including fundraisers and campaign rallies; activities requiring multiple spaces during open hours, as this is disruptive to the on-going public programs; long-term, reoccurring weekly meetings/activities that interfere with normal use by the Center partners; banquet events such as weddings, holiday parties, etc. that would compete with private businesses; commercial events in which profit is the direct purpose of the meeting.

Smoking, weapons, and intoxication are prohibited in the facility.
